Mad Hatter... Chicken Sagas
Who would have thought that 3 little yellow bundles of fluff that we acquired in September would be the result of so much learning, heart ache, joy, vets visits but as of yet not one egg.
I have blogged about getting the chickens before. How we got them from day olds and built a coop for them and have been waiting for them to lay some eggs. Well the egg... Saying goodbye to Stanley
Stanley was my dog, I got him in 2000 he was 18 months old then, so in dog years he will be 91 in March. He is a Labrador, the kids have loved him and grow up with him, he has always been around and especially for Rachel he has been her first pet. He is so gentle and has always put up with the riding him and playing with him and has never ever in all his... Cherry Picking
We went cherry picking on Sunday. It is the beginning of cherry season but the kids leave to Pretoria on the 8th and we wanted to fit it in before they go. It is quite a long drive and it made me grateful my mom talked me out of driving up to them for Christmas. The colder windy day gave me the perfect excuse to wear my new hat I knitted for myself. I so... Recent knitting projects
I made a shawl for Rachel’s birthday which I realize by some huge over sight I have not yet blogged about! ( Note to self: Blog about Rachel’s Party) This was the first shawl that I have made and was rather chuffed how it came out. It is the Sunny Days Shawlette from Nurturing Fibres
I then made one for my Mom’s 60th Birthday. Both Shawls... We have chickens
I have always wanted chickens but just did not think we would be having them so soon. It was the church Bazaar in Philadelphia where Carle lives on the 2nd September. She knew that I wanted chickens at some point and so she ordered me some when she pre-ordered for her boys. And so our adventure with chickens began on 2 Septemeber at the Philadelphia Kerk... Step parenting is hard
Well parenting is hard, but as a step patent you always have that extra anxiety.
Rachel made this card for Yme.She loves Hama beads but this was the first time that she finished the lion all by herself. I love the fairies that she added all around the picture of Yme. She asked me how to spell the words but deciding what to say was all her own decision. I... This too will pass
I think those few words have to be the motto of almost every mother. Often no doubt said through gritted teeth as we battle the latest parenting challenge. This post is written Titus moaning in arms, we have spent the last hour trying to read to the older kids. We have given up, they are watching TV. He has cried, fussed, moaned, burped, wee’ed,... Rachel
I want to do a blog post about each of the Pinklets to update how they are and what they are up to so Rachel is up first.
She is 6 soon to be 7 which seems totally impossible. I love this photo that Catherine took of her. Rachel has always been a chatty exuberant child. She loves to talk and ask loads and loads of questions. It really keeps you on your... Do you wear a watch?
I have worn a watch since I was about Rachel’s age. Every single day, it is part of my comfort zone. I know what the time is. This does not mean that I am usually on time it just means I know how late I am.
I lost my watch recently at the beach and am at a total loss without it. It was a very nice Fossil with a light pink mother of pearl face. A bit...
