Exclusively designed and proudly locally made, Sebastian Baby Wear has officially launched their first location store, supplying consumers with an exclusive range of baby wear and accessories. SBW is now situated opposite the famous Cape Town Old Biscuit Mill in the midst of the trendy new Salt River Arcade in Woodstock, adding cuteness and quirkiness to the popular centre.

It was lovely to meet Tessa and see how passionate she is about what she does. While shopping for her son Sebastian, the shop model and namesake, she was shocked at the prices and quality available.

On maternity leave she also found herself adapting and sewing her son clothes that were practical for mom and still cute for baby. Friends started asking her to make her creations for them, she then started a FaceBook page and selling on line. The next big step Tessa quit her job and poured heart and soul into Sebastian’s.

Tessa:” What started as a hobby in 2014, has blossomed into a fully operation business, forcing us to open our first showroom, which will hopefully snowball into a national roll out, bring SBW boys and girls wear to the entire country”

Every item has a story, Tessa says. From the jeans with poppers opening around the legs for easier changing to gorgeous lined so light summer dresses for girls. Everything is well thought out with meticulous attention to detail.

But what I really love is that Tessa is focused on producing a local product and creating jobs for women in the community.Personally designed by Tessa and locally manufactured in Primrose Park, Athlone, Sebastian Baby Wear prides itself on its authentic South African manufacturing process from conceptualization to final garment delivery, creating jobs and opportunities for local seamstresses and pattern makers around the Cape who have been affected by job losses in in the industry over the past decade. Momtrepreneur creating local jobs and empowering people, this really something worth supporting
