Who I was born to be

I first saw Susan Boyle, like I guess most people outside the UK did, on a you tube video a few days after she first appeared on Britain’s got Talent. Although I am a rock and metal chick at heart her voice is amazing and I can appreciate it. My mom bought her CD when she was recently in the UK and there is one song that resonates with. There are I guess many people who think that I have gone off the rails since my marriage ended. My ex calls this my mid life crisis but you know it is not that I have gone off the rails at all, it is just I was on the wrong tracks, I am now more who I really am that I have been in a long time.

Who I Was Born To Be

When I was a child
I could see the wind in the trees
and I heard a song in the breeze
it was there, singing out my name

But I am not a girl
I have known the taste of defeat
and I have finally grown to believe
it will all came around again

Coro:
And though I may not
know the answers
I can finally say I am free
And if the questions
led me here,then
I am who I was born to be

And so here am I
Open arms and ready to stand
I’ve got the world in my hands
And it feels like my turn to fly

repit coro

When I was a child
there were flowers that bloomed in the night
Unafraid to take in the light
Unashamed to have braved the dark

repit coro
and ends: I am who I was born to be
I am who I was born to be.

For anyone who does not know the story here is the first time she was on Britain’s Got Talent

  1. You know, PHG, when I look at the crowd of people around you, and I see the way they rely on you, feed off your energy, ask for your advice, desire to be in your space and share your life with you, I can see the truth in this song being played out. You are outgrowing the label ‘survivor’, and becoming a woman whose self-confidence is inspiring, and yet you have the humility to relate to all sorts of people without judging them. So if you need confirmation, I can say this song is you.
